1202 Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-35 YR OLD AFGHAN BELOUCHI HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 3'10'' x 8'10'': The burnt orange central field is covered with rows of amoeba like small figures that form vertical lines. The main border has a latch hook design that is often found on older Belouchi rugs.
CONDITION: There is some color run in the borders and there was a repair for uneven tension on one end.

Also included are a covered vegetable, open vegetable, gravy with underplate, cream pitcher, sugar and 2 platters (12'' and 16'').
CONDITION: The covered vegetable has 2 minute chips under the lid rim, and the open vegetable has a chip under the base.

CONDITION: Frame shows wear, overall fading, several small spots of foxing. There is a repair just above the mountain, and in the right mid margin, as seen in the images, as well as some overall toning. Sold as is.

However, the spaces on this rug are not really large enough and it is an example made for decoration in the western market. Each of the saphs or mihrabs have a different colored ground and each is decorated with different trees and flowers. Condition is good. 250

Set into the finest velvet lined gutta percha case we have ever seen, with the Washington Monument in Richmond center medallion, angels and eagles with shields in corners on front, foliate center medallion on back. Overall 1 1/2'' h. x 6 1/4'' x 5''.
CONDITION: Medallion has not been removed from case.

1247A Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-40 YR. OLD PERSIAN OR AFGHAN PICTORIAL RUG HAND KNOTTED WOOL, 4' x 6': This interesting rug has a central picture of a romantic couple in an outdoor setting. They are like characters from an Omar Khayyam poem. The other motifs around and above them include flowering trees and birds. Also there are buildings that are very Western in their look. There are tiny helicopters just to further confuse the scene. A camel caravan makes up the main border, interrupted by peacocks in each corner and by more houses. This is the kind of rug that you see something new in it every time you look again. Condition is good. 225
