1057 Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-40 YR OLD PAK-PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'2'' x10'3'': An attractive rug with repeating alternating motifs that look like stylized vases of flowers on a white field. The colors used include pink, red, greens, black, and pale yellow. The densely covered field is edged by a mostly black ground main border that has panels in pink and yellow with smaller motifs in between. The light colored guard borders have a repeating small shield-like pattern. Condition is good.

1075 Click for larger picture PORTRAIT OF LAJOS KOSSUTH'S SISTER: 42'' x 36'', Oil/Canvas, no visible signature, unframed. Lajos Kossuth was a Hungarian lawyer, journalist, politician and Governor-President of the Kingdom of Hungary during the revolution of 1848-49. Lajos gave his sister, Zsuzsanna, the responsibility to organize the medical military system in Hungary. She was considered a freedom fighter.
CONDITION: Older reline, scattered craquelure, some flecks of paint loss, needs cleaning, several touches of inpaint with repairs to tears. Sold as is.

1076 Click for larger picture APPROX. 30-35 YR OLD INDO-PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'10'' x 11'8'': This rug has an interesting pattern that is a little unusual. Running through the field, the center medallion, and the corners is a repeating design made by four points with palmettes in darker colors linked by vines that form a diamond shape. The black colored palmettes and corners of the field are the foil to set off the lighter colors that make up most of the rug's field and borders. This rug has a soft palette that would be an attractive addition to many areas in a home. Condition is good. 500

1099 Click for larger picture TORNAI, Guyla, (Hungarian, 1861-1928): Moor At Rest, Oil/Board, sight size 14.5'' x19.5'', signed lower left, framed, 23'' x 29.5''. Tornai pursued a formal education and studied under the likes of Hans Makart and Gyula Bencz£r; Makart had a great influence on him. His early paintings featured genre scenes which changed greatly as he traveled. He would often design frames to compliment his artwork.
CONDITION: Scattered touches of inpaint with several abrasions, frame shows wear, sold as is.
