1023A | APPROX 30-40 YR OLD PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 11'5'' X 16'8'': There are inscriptions in cartouches at either end of rug. Although this is a palatial size rug it has the feel of a village or tribal piece with its lively colors and strong geometric patterns. There is a large central triple medallion design that rests on an ivory field. The parts at either end are diamond shaped in a medium blue with salmon red accents and the center lozenge shaped medallion is a darker blue outlined by salmon red borders that have abrash, or color change. The corners and zig-zagged sides of the field are done in the same salmon red. Besides stylized flowers and birds that are found here and there, there are little goats in the small midnight blue corners of the field. A charming rug that would be a dynamic addition to any home. 1025 | HENRY BUCKER HAND PAINTED KPM PLAQUE OF MARY: Plaque depicts Mary, the mother of Jesus, with eyes raised to heaven. The artist has written ''Maria (illegible) Canto Dolce,'' or ''Mary's Sweet Song'' on the back of the porcelain. This scene comes from Luke 1:46-55, ''Mary's Song,'' which tells Mary's words right after she is told she will bear God's son. The verso of this piece also bears the artist's seal ''Henry Bucker, Painter on China, 5 Pragerstrasse 5, Dresden.'' The verso is stamped with the official KPM stamp. The porcelain rests in an oval frame measuring 7.25''h x 5''w. Henry Bucker was a painter on china in Dresden during second half of 19th century. He was awarded the prize medal at The Exhibition London in 1851; Dublin in 1885; and an honorable mention at The Exhibition London 1862. Porcelain measures 6 3/4'' x 4 3/4'', in contemporary easel back frame. | 600 | |

1030 | APPROX 30-50 YR OLD PERSIAN QUM FINELY KNOTTED SMALL FRAMED SILK RUG 18 1/2'' x 24'': This beautiful example of Persian weaving has a midnight blue field covered with a well placed arrangement of a variety of flowers around a central floral ''wheel''. The flowers colors are mostly pastel with a deep red in some flowers and also used to outline motifs. Instead of curving leaves circling around the flowers a branch of graduated size flowers is used. This same motif is found as part of the border design around palmettes and larger single flowers. There is a signature cartouche at both the top and bottom of this little jewel. Framed 38'' x 28''. 1035 | LOT OF 3 APPROX 30-45 YR OLD TURKISH HEREKE FINELY HAND KNOTTED SILK FRAMED RUGS WITH SEVEN MOUNTAIN FLOWER THEME: These fine Hereke rugs were made in the same workshop that was originally set up by and for the Sultan's exclusive use. Two of these small gems are almost identical with the Seven Mountain design expressed in a tree of life that has a variety of branches of different flowers that spread out over the field of the rug. There are birds here and there on the tree branches, deer frolicking below and clouds floating by above. The third rug is another variant on the theme with a pastoral theme that includes the variety of flowers, the birds, and the clouds, but also has a stream with ducks swimming and a very large deer. This last gem also has the added design element of a ''broken border'' that is formed by a band that is at times overlapped by sprays of flowers or palmettes that span the field and borders. The larger rug measures 25 1/4'' x 18'', framed 29 1/4'' x 32 1/4''. The 2 smaller measures 12 1/2'' x 18 1/2'', framed 30'' x 20''. CONDITION: Good, not examined out of frame. One back glass with cracks. |
