CALDER, Alexander, (American, 1898-1976): Untitled (Spiral and Flowers), 1970, Gouache on Vidalon-les-Annonay Heavy Paper, 29.5'' x 43'', signed lower right, dated '70, metal frame (removed for examination purposes), 37'' x 49'', original Albert White Gallery Toronto, Canada, label affixed verso, blind stamp in lower left corner reads ''Les Papier canson lavis B'', paper is watermarked in the upper margin. Original receipt from 1977, Albert White Gallery, Toronto, Canada. The Calder Foundation has not examined this work yet, but at the conclusion of the bidding, the Winning Bidder may elect to send this piece to the foundation, (after funds have been verified and secured in an escrow account) insured, for immediate examination and registration into the known cataloged works of Calder, (at the Foundations earliest opportunity, which, according to them will be in the next few weeks). Upon conclusion of the examination, if the Calder Foundation finds the work to be authentic, and provides it with an officially documented Calder Foundation identification number (Ex. A13111), the sale will be complete, and the Winning Bidder will make arrangements with the Foundation and a shipper of their choice, to have the item packed, shipped and insured for immediate transport. If the Calder Foundation finds the work to be inauthentic, and/or cannot provide an officially documented Calder Foundation identification number, then the amount of the winning bid verified and secured in an escrow account, is to be returned in full to the Winning Bidder, or the bidder may keep the picture. If the Winning Bidder declines the offer to submit for examination, the sale will become final. By participating in the live online auction bidding for this lot, you agree and are bound by these terms. CONDITION: Small pin hole tack hole visible in upper and lower left corners, very minor pale toning to paper, some rippling in all margins due to application of gouache on paper, very pale scattered faint tiny spots, tape residue verso in margins, not mounted or laid, sold as is. |
