COLESCOTT, Warrington, (American, 1921-): ''Dancer Transfiguration'', Etching, 24'' x19'' with margins, pencil signed lower right and dated '59, numbered 4/10 and titled lower left, painted black frame, 27.5'' x 22.25''. Ferdinand Rotten Gallery label affixed verso with artist's biography. Colescott has degrees from Berkeley, Grand Chaumiere/Paris and the Slade School of Art/London. He received prestigious fellowships with a Guggenheim, a Fulbright and 3 National Endowments for the Artists Fellowships. His imagery evolved into social satire created in the mediums of serigraphy and intaglio printmaking. CONDITION: Some scattered spotting in the margins, most notably in the right margin, float mounted, not examined out of frame, frame shows wear, sold as is. |
