6 LOUIS PHILIPPE FRENCH CHAIRS BY MUNIER: A set of 6, circa 1840, by C. H. Munier, to include 2 arm chairs and 4 side chairs, carved decoration to top rail and skirts, frames with white and parcel gilt decoration, black and white striped upholstery. Purchased from Christies Auction, lot 95, April 2010. From the Christies catalog ''Charles Munier is recorded as a Tapissier, Miroitier des Meubles, established at 41-43 Rue Mes and then 164 Rue Monmartre from 1830-1863. He obtained the title of Fournisseur du Mobilier de la Couronne. He was essentially an upholsterer and recovered numerous chairs for the Garde Meuble, which he branded with his stamp. APPROX. 20-30 YR. OLD CHINESE HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'10'' x 12'1'': The ivory field of this rug has a round central medallion with a dragon coiled around flowers and leaves. The pastel colors of the dragon are repeated in the sprays of flowers that are placed around the medallion and in the inner and outer borders of the rug.
