(Greece, 1840-1916): Young Seamstress in the Parlor, Oil/Canvas, sight size 38'' x 22.5'', signed lower right, pierced carved and gilded frame 44'' x 29''. Rossi exhibited over 60 works at the Royal Academy in London in the 1870's. Born in Corfu, his father was an Italian judge that presided over the Ionian Islands under British Rule.
CONDITION: Relined, needs cleaning, frame shows wear, sold as is.

Encased in 19th century gilded gesso oval frame, 37'' x 33.5''.
CONDITION: Stretcher bar wear, scattered craquelure, several abrasions and flecks throughout, several scattered pinholes, frame has spots of wear, in need of some repair. Sold as is.

Quizet was an important member of the school of Montmarte, referring to area of Montmartre versus the school of. The artists lived here before the war and tended to be Jewish immigrants who lived a Bohemian lifestyle. Quizet is linked to Utrillo, Leprin and Valtat.

CONDITION: Hinge mounted, drying holes in upper margins. Toning and mat burn in upper inside and upper margins. Crease in the right margin and another crease by the name. Sold as is.

1073A Click for larger picture YOSHIDA, Hiroshi, (Japanese, 1876-1950): ''New Moon'', Japanese Woodblock Print, 11.5'' x 15.5'', signed lower right, titled lower left, seal in left margin, framed, 15'' x 20''. Yoshida was a leader in the new print movement (shin hanga) and was the only one to sign and title his work in English. He worked as a painter until his 40s when he became interested in woodblocks. He worked with Watanabe for a few years and became very involved in the printing process. Eventually he started his own print shop. Yoshida was an avid mountain climber and became known for his Alpine scenes.
CONDITION: Visible toning and mat burn, minor handling creases, sold as is.

Carr is one of Canada's leading artist's and who worked with an Expressionist painting style on native subject matter. This was considered ground-breaking because it focused on capturing images of the vanishing First Nations culture of British Columbia. She studied art and was an independent spirit in an era where that was not expected of a woman.

1168 Click for larger picture SVENDSEN, Svend (Norway, 1864-1945): Haystacks Along a Snow Covered Road, Oil/Canvas, 25'' x 32'', signed lower right, framed 30'' x 37''. Svendsen moved to Chicago in 1881 to begin work as a lithograph artist, where he became known as one of Chicago's most important landscape painters. Eventually he moved to Paris and studied at the Academie Delecluse, one year after his exhibition debut in 1895. Svendsen was known for his intimate, and at times, even romantic landscapes.

Matulka was born to a single mom who raised her children in poverty in the Bronx. As a leading modernist, Matulka worked with Stuart Davis to develop a new form of Cubism. In the 1930s he became a WPA mural painter.

Mouly was a protege of Fernand Leger but mostly known as the last living student of Pablo Picasso. His work is highly influenced by the works of Braque, Picasso and Matisse. Mouly studied at the French Academies in 1935 then went on to have his first solo exhibition at the Libraire Bergamasque in Paris, France in 1949. His work is still displayed in several prominent European galleries, including, Centre Georges Pompidou and Musee Nationale d'art Modern.

1380 Click for larger picture LARGE PLANTE MIXED METAL FRAME: Copper, Silver-plate and Possibly Sterling Metals Encasing George and Mary, The Royalty, Photographic Print is of Queen Mary and King George and their coronation in 1911, overall measurement approx. 34'' x 25'', impressed plante marked verso in an old Hollywood Road Gallery, Chelsea label affixed verso, has an easel back, can be hung or displayed on a table. On June 22nd, 1911, King George V and Queen Mary were coronated in a grand ceremony at Westminster Abbey. The coronation included an homage to their son, The Prince of Wales who would later become King Edward VIII and the Duke of Windsor.
CONDITION: Photographic print has major issues including insect damage, missing paper, toning, and the frame has been dropped on the left side with obvious dent and disfiguration, rosettes missing in four corners and the top, other scattered abrasions and pitting, sold as is.
