GIBBERD, Eric, (English,1897-1972 ): ''Red Willow Country'', Oil/Masonite, 20'' x 24'', signed lower left, Taos, New Mexico Gallery label affixed verso, framed, 24'' x 28''. Gibberd devoted his talent to capturing nature. After World War II, he married an artist who encouraged him to develop his talent and so he studied in Las Angeles and Barcelona. He much admired Cezanne. Gibberd eventually became part of the legendary Taos Art Colony. CONDITION: Some craquelure, needs cleaning, sold as is. |

SELINGER, Jean Paul, (American, 1850-1909): ''Adelaide'', Portrait of John Singer Sargent's Niece, Oil/Canvas, 52'' x 38'', unframed, signed upper right, titled Adelaide upper left. Depicts a Young Girl Seated on an Ottoman Holding a Yellow Rose. Loaned to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts by Arthur Sargent. Pencil inscription on the stretcher verso which reads ''Painted by Jean Paul Selinger dated 1894''. Bearer's label from Museum of Fine Arts verso. Originally born John Paul, his wife preferred the French pronunciation and so he changed his name to Jean Paul. He painted the White Mountains, landscapes and many portraits. | 425 |

NEMETHY, Albert, (Hungarian, 1920-1998): Lakeside Landscape Scene with Indian Camp and Figures in Canoe, Oil/Canvas, 22'' x 35.75'', signed lower left A Nemethy, unframed. Nemethy left Hungary during the communist takeover. Eventually he settled in the Hudson River Valley with his 6 children who also became artists. There are stylistic similarities among and between family members making it difficult to distinguish the artist. Albert is best known for ship portraits and landscapes. CONDITION: Needs cleaning, scattered abrasions, several punctures, sold as is. |
