MCBURNEY, James, (American, 1868-1965): Canyon Scene with Pines and Blue Sky, Oil/Canvas, 28.25'' x 49.5'', signed lower right, period carved gesso frame, 36'' x 57''. McBurney was a painter, illustrator and muralist. He studied at the Pratt Institute in New York, in Philadelphia at the Drexel Institute and the Brandywine School of Art. McBurney was active in the Chicago WPA Murals project and many of the murals have or are being restored. CONDITION: Several patches verso, scattered craquelure, repairs to tears, some scattered inpaint, needs cleaning, frame has some loss, sold as is. |

Pris obtained a degree in graphic design and worked in various phases of the advertising industry, while she continued her studies in architectural drafting and landscape/architectural renderings. She was always interested in art and taught herself how to paint in the early part of her artistic career. She has worked with and been mentored by a number of artists in her career and more recently her instructors have been Ann Templeton of New Mexico and Bill Herring of Texas. Her works have been shown in numerous galleries in the U.S. CONDITION: Minor wear to frame, sold as is. |
