CONDITION: Heavy craquelure throughout, depression in upper mid margin, small fleck of paint loss in right and left margins, and several smaller pieces scattered throughout. Sold as is.

1340 Click for larger picture VOLKMANN, Hans Richard Von, (German, 1860-1927): ''Herbstwald im Nebel'', Depicts a Pastoral Landscape, Oil/Canvas, 20 1/2'' x 25 3/8'', signed lower right, dated 1920, signed and titled verso with affixed label possibly from a museum, gilded frame with minor wear, 23 1/2'' x 28 1/2''. From the Collection of Professor Robert Bailey.
CONDITION: Several minor scattered spots of inpaint, small fleck of paint loss in lower right corner.

1345 Click for larger picture RAPHAEL, Joseph, (American, 1869-1950): Clearing in a Birch Forest, Oil/Masonite, 24'' x 19.5'', titled verso Epping Forest, signed lower right, framed, 27.5'' x 23.25''. Raphael studied at the Beaux Artes in Belgium and the Academie Julian. Overtime, his style evlolved using broader and freer brushstrokes similar to the post-Impressionist style. He was married and his family grew; they became the subjects of some of his pieces. Raphael and his family lived in Holland until WWII threatened at which time they moved to San Francisco. He was a skilled printmaker and produced numerous etchings and wood cuts.
CONDITION: Several flecks of loss, sold as is.
