18TH CENTURY JOHN SCOTT SCOTTISH TALL CASE CLOCK: Late 18th century mahogany case, bonnet with broken arch swan neck pediment, center brass eagle finial, inset pierced carved decoration, fluted columns. Waist with shaped blind door, stepped base, bracket feet. Brass dial marked ''John Scott, Edinburgh'' in lunette, applied foliate decorated spandrels, center of dial with engraved birds. Second dial, calendar aperture, Roman and Arabic numerals. John Scott apprenticed in 1779 and died in 1798, he was a recognized maker to the Prince of Wales. Overall measures 87 1/4'' h. x 20 3/4'' x 10 3/4''. CONDITION: Repair and missing decoration at right arch on bonnet, missing second hand, one weight string broken, unable to determine functionality. |
