APPROX 20-40 YR OLD TURKISH HAND KNOTTED WOOL PRAYER RUG, 3'5'' X 5'4'': This attractive rug has an asymmetrical design with a prayer niche in the center of the rug and a place for head and hands at one end. (to bow towards Mecca). The center is a dark green, columns are on either side, and a lamp hangs from the top of the niche. There is an inscription at the base of the rug. A variegated band of coral, yellow, and red outlines the niche. A pale gold main border frames the rug. CONDITION: There is some slight visible wear, but otherwise in good condition. |
