1061 Click for larger picture CHWAT, Molli, (French, 1888-1979): Parisian Street Scene, Oil on Canvas, 16'' x 13'', signed lower right, contemporary framing, 19.5'' x 16.5''. Chwat was born in Poland and studied art in Saint Petersburg and Paris. After WWII, he immigrated to Israel and began painting biblical themes. ''There are artists who attached to the ceremonial religion, others attached to the mysticism of the legends and some who enter the esoteric traditions. Chwat, in his painting, praises enthusiastically the great events that relate to the holy book. By this, he makes a strong and ancient connection to the source of Jewish art.''- La Via Juive, 1955.

Karpathy was born in Hungary and studied in Budapest with Bertalan Skekely. He also studied in France, Brussels and Belgium. He is best known for his landscape paintings.
