1413 Click for larger picture REEDY, Leonard, (American, 1899-1956): Four-piece estate lot of western Watercolor art. 1) ''The Hanging'', Cowboys Surrounding a Cattle Rustler about to be Hanged, Watercolor, sight size 8'' x 11'', signed lower right, framed, 15'' x 18''. 2) Indian War Party, Watercolor, sight size 8'' x 11'', signed lower right, framed, 15.25'' x 18.25''. 3) Cowboy Roping Longhorn Steer, sight size 6.75'' x 9.75'', signed lower left, framed, 15'' x 18''. 4) Horses Tied to Hitching Post Outside Saloon, Watercolor, sight size 7.75'' x 11'', signed lower right, framed, 15.25'' x 18.25''. Reedy developed an aptitude for drawing at a young age and attempting to reproduce the style and subject matter of Remington, he filled the margins of his school books with drawings. Reedy was at home on the Great Plains, the desert country, mountains, and mining and timber camps. He worked as a ranch hand, roamed with the Indians and over time, gained a certain knowledge of western life that he went on to portray.
CONDITION: Not examined out of the frames. 1) Pale fading, overall browning, mat burn along edges, several spots of foxing, frame shows wear. 2) Overall browning, mat burn around all edges, several white spots, frame shows wear. 3) Mat burn, overall pale brown, frame shows wear. 4) Mat burn, overall pale brown, frame shows wear. 1425 Click for larger picture NICOLAIDES, Kimon, (American/French, 1892-1938): Nudes in a Landscape, Watercolor, 12.25'' x 9.5'', signed lower right, framed, 16.5'' x 13.5''. Nicolaides ran away from home to become an artist. He travelled to New York where he studied at the Art Students League with John Sloan and George Bridgman. During WWI, he became one of the first American camouflage artists and also worked on contour maps. He is well-known for developing a method of teaching drawing, which he shared in ''The Natural Way to Draw''. Provenance: Estate Collection of Christian Buchheit.

1431 Click for larger picture SKENE, Harold, (American, 1883-1978): ''Black Canyon'', Oil/Canvas/Masonite, 24'' x 30'', signed lower right, titled verso, dated 1962, custom frame, 31'' x 37''. Skene graduated Harvard with a degree in Architecture and also attended the Denver and Broadmoor Art Academy's. Although he traveled in Switzerland, England and France, many of his paintings are of Colorado, and neighboring states.

Painter and rabbi, he was educated in Paris from age 3. He studied at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. He was a member of the French resistance during WW II. He lived in Israel and the USA.

CONDITION: 1) Very pale toning, several scattered spots, good overall, sold as is. 2) Very pale toning, some darkening in the corners, several spots of foxing, sold as is. 3) Uneven trimming to margins, some pale toning in exposed areas, minor scattered soiling, several small pinholes in upper left margin, several spots of foxing. Possible repair to tear in upper left corner where tape meets paper far from the actual image, hinge mounted in upper margins, sold as is.
