SEMI-ANTIQUE PERSIAN SHIRAZ HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 5'1'' x 6'1'': This rug has the traditional geometric designs and warm colors found in rugs woven by this tribal group. There are attached diamond shaped medallions in colors of rust, blue, black, red, peach, and white, on a white ground that is further covered with a profusion of geometric motifs. The four corners of the field have the same colors as the medallions. This rug has a definite Tribal masculine look to it. CONDITION: There are some folds due to tension differences in the weave but they don't detract too much from the overall look of the rug. Also there are some areas of wear. |

APPROX 25 TO 40 YR OLD PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 3' x 4': This rug has an overall design that is a variant on the garden pattern that is found in many Persian rugs. The field is covered with rows of various flowering plants done in colors of pink, red, blues, and green with ivory backgrounds. The outlines of each plant are accented by their deep red and blue-black colors which contrast with the softer inner colors. APPROX 20-40 YR OLD PERSIAN DESIGN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 3' 4'' x 4' 10'': This rug has an interesting color palette that includes a red central medallion that is outlined with pink and that has a yellow center. There are spandrels dangling from the ends of the medallion that sits on an ivory field. The corners of the field are yellow and pale lavender-grey. The rest of the field is covered with small sprays of leaves and flowers. The main border has a salmon colored ground and there are pistachio green guard borders on either side. It all works to make this a lively expression of the weaver's art. CONDITION: The sides need some repair. |
